DECC release FIT FAQ's
21/2/2012
The Department of Energy and Climate change has issued a series of questions and answers to help people understand the changes to the feed-in-tariff.
The document is aimed at installers and customers in a bid to provide more clarity around the new tariff levels, EPC ratings and the implications for multiple installations.
The response shows that following the recent revision of tariffs in line with inflation, post March tariffs will remain the same until April 2012. The DECC state that the proposed tariffs for March 3rd “have already incorporated this increase and will not increase further.”
They have also stipulated that in order for renewable installers to carry out EPC assessments, they must meet the qualification and accreditation conditions under the terms of the Energy Performance of Buildings Regulations 2007.
Once an EPC has been submitted for feed-in-tariff payments, a new one cannot be re-submitted after improvements have been carried out. Although solar PV installations will contribute towards EPC certificates, the updated EPC certificate must be obtained before applying for feed-in-tariff payments.
With regard to multiple PV installations, a new, lower tariff will apply to those who claim the feed-in-tariff for more than 25 properties. This will only count for installations after April 1st, however any current installations will count towards the quota of 25.
