Feed in Tariff Changes
1/11/2011
The government has announced changes to the feed in tariff (FiT) that will come into effect as of December 12th 2011.
The government proposes to cut the tariff for new Solar PV installations by around 50% on installations. These are the proposed new rates for the FiT:
Up to 4kW: 21p / kWh (previously 43.3p for retrofit / 37.8p for new build)
>4-10kW: 16.8p (previously 37.8p)
>10-50kW: 15.2p (previously 32.9p)
>50-150kW: 12.9p (previously 19p)
>150-250kW: 12.9p (previously 15p)
>250kW-5MW: remains at 8.5p
Any new Solar PV systems installed before December 12th 2011 will still be able to benefit from the current FiT rates. If you are interested in benefitting from the current FiT rates, don’t hesitate to enquire immediately.
New Solar PV installs with an eligibility date on or after Dec 12th 2011 will be able to receive the current FiT rates until 31st March 2012, after this the rates will be reduced to the new tariff.
The eligibility date can be determined by the date your system is commissioned by your installer or the date that your FiT supplier receives your valid written application for registration, including your MCS certificate. Please remember that it will be the later of these dates that applies.
From April 1st 2012 any new installations will only be able to receive the new rates as listed above.
