Sanyo’s brand change to Panasonic.

Sanyo Component Europe GmbH have announced that the branding of its HIT solar modules will change from ‘Sanyo’ to ‘Panasonic’. The modules, which are highly appraised in Europe for their high conversion efficiency and reliability, will be renamed as of April 1st 2012. The unification of the solar brand is part of a wider scheme of consolidation of brands of certain consumer products currently being carried out by the Panasonic Group in order to take advantage of the strengths of each company within the group. Sanyo’s started developing solar cells in 1975 and has continued to carry out leading research and development in the field. Panasonic is a worldwide leader in the development and manufacture of all different kinds of electronic products. Combining the best aspects from Panasonic and Sanyo will allow further synergy to be generated within the group. The technical capabilities of Sanyo and the global network of Panasonic will strengthen the solar business globally. Mr Sheghei Komatsu, Director of the solar division of Sanyo Component GmBH commented, “The brand change is part of the global strategy aimed at expanding the solar business of the Panasonic group”
