What Are Your Options for Renewable Electricity?
There are many ways to look at this concept, but the best place to sart is with your own objectives:
- What do you need electricity for?
- Do you know your electrical demand?
- How do you think this may change in the future?
This information should come backed up with your existing bills or an estimate based on the appliances and occupancy of the location.
Understand Your Electricity Bill
If you have a monthly breakdown, great, you can see peaks and troughs throughout the year.
If you have a complex operation, then look into the breaking down by cost centre or application.
This will help in two ways:
- You may be able to save money just by using less electricity!
- If you are looking for an investment in renewable electricity to suit your budget, we can identify a specific load to be serviced by it.

Wind Power, Solar Power Or CHP?
These three categories are your main options for on-site renewable electricity. Each has their own requirements, some are climate or topographical related others are operation related.
Wind Power Applications For Business
Grid Connected Wind Power
Using a wind turbine connected to your distribution board via and inverter, this is one of the most popular renewable electricity sources - BUT YOU MUST HAVE WIND!
Whatever energy your wind turbine generates is consumed by your operation first, any excess is sold back to the grid. Conversely if you need more than the turbine is producing you will have the grid as back up.
Off-grid Wind Power
If you have a location which has no grid connection wind turbines are an excellent option with or without a secondary power source. Careful sizing of your load is required in order to size a battery bank and turbine. We have a range of turbines capable of tackling every sort of need.
Direct Drive Wind Power Applications
If the conditions are right, wind power is one of the most cost effective and greenest ways to save money and reduce carbon through water pumping. If you have a need to pump water or waste, you can do this without the need for the grid or battery back up and this can work in conjunction with other power sources such as generators as well.
Solar Applications for Business
Solar Power has been available for a long timeand solar panels using silicon are one of the most popular forms of renewable energy source.
Panels can be purchased in a range of different types with differing levels of cost ad efficiency to suit your budget.
You will need a south facing roof or a flat surface capable of holding panels on A-frames - from this we can quickly work out the costs and benefits to you of using solar panels.
Solar panels can be retrofit or designed into a building during construction and connected to the grid very easily.
Off-grid and Direct drive applications are possible with solar power, but it is usually prudent to have a backup solution as well.
Combined Heat and Power CHP
Often seen as one of the holy grails of the energy world, CHP is still in early development stages. The most common applications are with large scale applications where there are constant predictable loads for electrical and heating. Micro CHP is in its early days of development.
