Commercial Solar Thermal
We have a great deal of experience in designing and installing solar thermal hot water systems on both domestic and commercial properties.
The system is designed to assist with hot water supplies and work especially well in areas that need a lot of hot water. Solar thermal can help make significant fuel savings as well as being eligible to support from the renewable heat incentive (RHI) which offers a rate of 8.5p per kWh.
Solar thermal would be good for properties that use a lot of hot water on a regular basis such as nursing homes, b & b’s, guest houses, swimming pools, hospitals etc.
Renewable Heat Incentive
The recently launched Renewable heat Incentive has made solar thermal systems far more attractive from a financial point of view. Commercial solar thermal systems are now eligible for the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI). It works in a similar way to the feed-in-tariff and solar PV.
The payment amount will be dependent on the size of the system you have installed and the amount of kWths that you use.. Much like the Solar PV feed-in-tariff, you will receive quarterly payments relating to your energy usage and this will be measured by a class 2 energy Meter. It is important that you hav the most efficient system installed which matched the needs of your property as this will maximise your return on investment.
For a solar thermal system that is less than 200kWth’s you will be paid 8.5p/kWh for 20 years.
The system has to be installed by an accredited installer, like Freesource Energy, and the generated heat must be used for an eligible purpose.

Installation
Installing a solar hot water system should be carried out by a competent and accredited installer such as Freesource Energy.
By choosing an accredited installer you have more protection as a consumer should anything fo wrong with the fitment and performance of your heating system.
To benefit from the RHI you will need to use an accredited Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) installer.
We are accredited under the MCS scheme for the solar thermal installations as well as being registered as competent installers under the NAPIT competent persons scheme for electrical and heating works.
