- Freesource and our funding partner cover the cost of the solar panel installation and maintenance, including the inverter replacement.
- As the homeowner you get to use the free electricity generated by your free solar PV installation.
- Our funding partner will receive the feed-in-tariff payments and any additional electricity that is exported back to the electricity grid.
- You can buy the system back from our funding partner at any point during the 25 year term.
How Much Could you Save?
The amount of money saved will depend on how much of the electricity generated by the solar panel installation that you use within the home, rather than export back to the grid. The more you can use the greater the savings.
Savings many vary depending on factors such as
- Your electricity usage and when you use it.
- If you are at home and using electrical appliances during the day.
- Changing your habits such as using the dishwasher during the day whilst the sun is shining rather than last thing at night
- Whether you can change the time you use your appliances by using timers.
- The size of the solar PV installation By increasing energy consumption during the day and reducing it at night savings could be as much as 50%, or more for some.
A solar PV system could save between £100 and £200 a year, these savings will increase as electricity prices rise. A typical solar PV system will produce 3000 kWh per year. Assuming that each kWh costs of £0.12 it would save £180 on a 50% usage pattern.
