Choosing a Solar Panel Installer
A solar electricity installation is a 25-year investment so you need to be sure that you are dealing with an installer that is reputable, who offers clear and honest advice and will be around in the years to come should your system need any maintenance.
Freesource Energy is both reputable and ethical. We use only MCS certified products and are MCS certified to install solar PV, solar thermal and heat pumps.
We are members of the trade organisation Renewable Energy Association (REA) and the REAL Assurance Scheme and work to their Consumer Code that sets clear guidelines on sales activity, contracts including deposits and payment schedules, completing of order and after-sales service.
In addition we are also members of Renewable Energy Installation Guarantee Agency (REIGA) and are able to offer our customers a 10 year installation guarantee. This provides peace of mind to our customers that should the unlikely happen and the business ceases to exist, REIGA will be there to ensure that our customers are protected with regards to the installation.
Freesource have also been working closely with 'Which?' to improve the standards of site survey visits.
Our surveyors follow the 'Which?' checklist and will do the following during a solar survey visit.
- Make written notes of all the measurements, in particular the orientation of the roof.
- Look at the roof – from both inside and outside.
- Use access equipment for closer inspection where roof quality is uncertain.
- Record any possible risk of shade on the roof from trees, neighbouring houses and chimneys.
- Examine the loft and measure the tilt angle of the roof.
- Look in detail at your consumer unit (fuse box) and metering.
- Identify your main electrical appliances and when you use them.
- Look around your house and discuss where to locate cables and equipment.
- Provide an in-depth quote including scaffolding costs, panel/module information, details of warranties, details of the inverter, the company’s terms and conditions, and information on how it has calculated the payback, rate of return and savings.
All our survey visits are followed up with a quotation detailing the specification, installation, estimated FITs returns, estimated electricity savings, product specifications, warranty information and full drawings detailing the system and shading analysis if applicable.
