Wind turbines are one of the most popular and effective renewable options available to date, and arguably one of the best renewable power generating solutions in the UK currently.
Very simply, the wind drives the blades, which in turn drives a generator, which creates DC electricity. The stronger the wind, the more electricity produced.
The quietrevolution qr5 vertical axis wind turbine we supply makes use of wind from all directions, making it one of the most efficient turbines available. They can produce up to 20 to 40% more energy than a convential HAWT (propeller) design.
There are two main types of wind turbine installation we offer:
The qr5 free standing turbine can be erected in a suitably exposed position and is available in a range of pole heights.
The qr5 vertical axis wind turbine has been designed to maximise a rooftop mounting application as well as a free standing pole.
The aerodynamics of the vertical axis design also means that noise and vibration is reduced to near silence, making it an ideal solution to the problems experienced with a roof mounted HAWT turbine.
For grid connected wind turbines, the DC electricity generated is passed through an inverter which turns the DC into AC and can be connected to the national grid.
