Renewable Heat Premium Payment Scheme
The new Renewable Heat Premium Payment (RHPP) a precursor to the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) offers homeowners up to £1,250 as a one-off payment to help with the installation of renewable heat technologies including solar thermal, heat pumps and biomass boilers.
The Renewable Heat Premium Payment offers a voucher towards the installation of renewable technologies for heating such as solar thermal, biomass boilers and heat pumps. The RHPP is offered on a first come, first served basis; once the budget has been reached, the scheme will close.
The first phase of the RHPP closes on March 31st 2012 but there will still be an opportunity for people to benefit from the scheme when the second phase is launched on April 2nd.
Who can Apply for the RHPP Scheme?
Any householder in England, Scotland or Wales can apply for the RHPP if installing solar thermal products and receive a RHPP of £300!
However, only households that are not connected to mains gas (those currently using fuels such as oil, liquid gas, solid fuel or electricity for heating) can apply for the RHPP for the installation of a biomass boiler, air source heat pump or ground source heat pump and receive up to £1250!
All applicants must be the owner of the property or if a tenant must be paying for the system and have the permission of the landlord. In addition applicants must ensure the property has basic energy saving measures in place such as loft and cavity wall insulation.
Freesource Energy is an MCS registered Solar Thermal and Heat Pump installer and uses only MCS registered products. To take advantage of the RHPP you must use must install MCS approved products using an MCS accredited installer.
Homeowners taking advantage of the scheme will be asked to provide comprehensive feedback via surveys with a number of participants being provided with additional meters to allow the DECC to collect further system data.
How Much Does the RHPP Scheme Pay and How Does it Work?

Houses not heated by mains gas
£950 Biomass boiler (voucher valid for 6 months)
£850 Air source heat pump (voucher valid for 5 months)
£1250 Ground source heat pump (voucher valid for 6 months)
All houses
£300 Solar thermal (voucher valid for 3 months)
The payment will be made direct to your bank when the Energy Saving Trust receives your signed voucher along with a copy of your installation invoice and MCS certificate.
