Most wind turbine project time lines are driven by the planning system which can take anything from eight weeks upwards depending on the authority.
If we take out the planning authority we can break down the process depending on the size of the project.
Feasibility: 1 day
Liaison with authorities: 1 to 5 days
Ordering equipment: 12-20weeks
Foundation: 2 weeks
Installation: 2 days
Due to the size of investment and power generated there are more considerations and steps in the process.
3 phase power is required and therefore more liaison is required with the Grid operator which can incur costs of site visits.
Monitoring could be considered which can take a minimum of 6 months or a recommended 1 year.
You should expect to be working on a wind farm project for at least 2-3 years as this process is very detailed and the planning considerations are much tighter.
We recommend you contact us to discuss this topic as no two projects are the same. This page is designed to raise some considerations for you, but is not definitive.
